What Level Is The Exam?

The exam focuses on Level C1 (IELTS band score 6.5 to 8.0) of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) – the level required for academic and professional success.

Paper Details Skills Assessed
Reading and Use of English :
hour and 30 minutes
Shows that you understand texts from publications such as fiction and non-fiction books, journals, newspaper and magazines.
Writing :
1 hour 30 minutes
Shows that you can produce two different pieces of writing, including an essay.
Listening :
40 minutes
Shows that you can follow and understand a range of spoken materials.
Speaking :
15 minutes
Shows that you can communicate in a real life context. You take the test face-to-face with one or two candidates.

Your overall performance is calculated by averaging the scores you achieve in Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking and Use Of English. The weighting of each of the four skills and Use of English is equal.
